Post Surgical Recovery

Post-surgical recovery is the period in which the body heals and regains function after an operation, with neurological recovery focusing on the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. It involves coordinated wound healing, resolution of inflammation, restoration of neural signaling, and neuroplasticity, through which surviving neural networks reorganize in response to rehabilitation and sensory input. Monitoring cognition, movement, sensation, and pain helps clinicians identify complications and track functional progress. In neuroscience, studying post-surgical recovery supports individualized rehabilitation, improves outcomes after procedures such as brain or spinal surgery, and informs research on neural repair, brain health, and long-term quality of life.

2010

In this article we will describe the procedure for measuring diffusion coefficients using multi-photon fluorescence recovery after photobleaching. We will begin by aligning the laser along the optical path to the sample and determining the proper experimental parameters, then continue generating and finally fitting fluorescence recovery curves.

Auricular Point Acupressure Therapy: A Safe and Effective Treatment for Postsurgical Abortion Recovery

2026

This protocol details auricular plaster therapy using Vaccaria seeds on specific acupoints to promote recovery after surgical abortion. As a non-pharmacological adjunct to conventional treatment, it reduces vaginal bleeding duration, alleviates symptoms, and accelerates menstrual cycle restoration, demonstrating both safety and efficacy in clinical application.

All animal procedures described here must be conducted in accordance with institutional animal ethics guidelines and approved by IACUC. All procedures must follow the principles of the 3Rs—Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement—and must be performed by trained personnel. Surgical Preparation and Physiological Monitoring This video provides an introductory overview of surgical preparation, intraoperative monitoring, and postoperative care in swine. It is intended to familiarize learners with key...

Ischemia-reperfusion Model of Acute Kidney Injury and Post Injury Fibrosis in Mice

We describe models of moderate and severe ischemia-reperfusion-induced kidney injury in which the mice undergo unilateral renal pedicle clamping followed by simultaneous or delayed contralateral nephrectomy, respectively. These models consistently give rise to renal dysfunction and post-injury fibrosis, but injury severity and survival are dependent on mouse background, age and surgical equipment.
