Igg Resin Chromatography

IgG resin chromatography is an affinity-based separation method that isolates immunoglobulin G or IgG-binding molecules from complex biochemical mixtures through selective molecular interactions. In a packed column, IgG or an IgG-binding ligand is immobilized on a porous resin; the target binds while unbound proteins are removed during washing, then changes in pH, ionic strength, or a competing ligand promote elution. This approach supports antibody purification, characterization of Fc-mediated interactions, and preparation of samples for biochemical assays. Its high selectivity can improve purity and recovery, making it valuable in immunology, protein science, therapeutic development, and quality control.

Source: Laboratory of Dr. B. Jill Venton - University of Virginia Ion-exchange chromatography is a type of chromatography that separates analytes based on charge. A column is used that is filled with a charged stationary phase on a solid support, called an ion-exchange resin. Strong cation-exchange chromatography preferentially separates out cations by using a negatively-charged resin while strong anion-exchange chromatography preferentially selects out anions by using a positively-charged...

Transcytosis of IgG

2023

Transcytosis is the process in which molecules are internalized by endocytosis, transported across the cell, and released through exocytosis from the opposite end of the cell. Molecules such as insulin, immunoglobulins, and certain nutrients are transferred through the recycling endosomes by recycling and transcytosis. IgG molecules from a mother undergo transcytosis starting around 13 weeks of gestation. The amount of IgG transferred and entering the fetal blood circulation increases with...
