Beta-titanium Archwires

Beta-titanium archwires are orthodontic wires made from titanium-based alloys that provide a balance of flexibility, strength, and biocompatibility for controlled tooth movement. Their performance comes from a stabilized body-centered cubic beta phase, commonly produced with alloying elements such as molybdenum, which allows substantial elastic deflection, precise bending, and relatively low force delivery compared with stiffer archwire materials. In bioengineering and orthodontics, these properties support alignment, space closure, finishing adjustments, and the incorporation of loops or other wire designs. Their nickel-free composition can also make them useful when minimizing nickel exposure is important, while their formability enables customized treatment mechanics.

Beta is a crucial metric in finance used to assess an investment's risk and expected return relative to the overall market. It is calculated as the slope of the line in a scatterplot that compares the returns of an individual stock to the returns of the market benchmark, typically represented by a broad market index. Beta quantifies how much a stock's price moves in response to market movements, providing insight into its volatility and systematic risk. A beta of one indicates that the stock's...
