Icsi Procedure Preparation

ICSI procedure preparation comprises the clinical and laboratory steps required before intracytoplasmic sperm injection, a specialized assisted-reproduction technique in which a single sperm is introduced directly into a mature oocyte. Preparation includes coordinating oocyte retrieval, assessing and handling cumulus-enclosed oocytes, removing surrounding cells to identify maturity, and processing sperm for selection and immobilization. In the laboratory, precise micromanipulation aligns the oocyte and sperm before injection under controlled conditions. These steps support consistent fertilization assessment and embryo culture, making ICSI particularly relevant to infertility treatment, including cases involving impaired sperm function or limited sperm availability.

All animal procedures described here must be conducted in accordance with institutional animal ethics guidelines and approved by IACUC. All procedures must follow the principles of the 3Rs—Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement—and must be performed by trained personnel. Preoperative Preparation The initial assessment should include observation of alertness, posture, gait, and grooming behavior, as changes in these parameters may indicate underlying health issues. Body weight should be recorded...
