Surgical Incision Technique

Surgical incision technique is the planned method of creating an opening through skin and underlying tissue to access a tumor, biopsy site, or surgical field while limiting unnecessary tissue injury. Surgeons select the incision location, length, and direction according to anatomy and the intended procedure, then use instruments such as scalpels or electrosurgical devices to divide tissue, control bleeding, and preserve viable structures. In cancer research, consistent incision techniques support tumor excision, tissue sampling, and collection of specimens suitable for histological and molecular analysis. Careful tissue handling can improve specimen integrity, facilitate wound closure, and help researchers evaluate surgical outcomes, healing, and treatment effects.

2025

We introduced an optimized surgical approach for small incision lenticule extraction, termed the Ye's Swing Technique. This technique enables the surgeon to perform lenticule separation and extraction more easily while minimizing the risk of incision-edge tears and lenticule fragmentation. The results of this study proved its safety and efficacy.

A Standardized Surgical Technique for Tessier Medial Transnasal Canthopexy

Medial canthopexy allows correction of the position and fixation of the medial canthal tendon. Due to the technical difficulties of this procedure, there is a need for a detailed protocol for educational purposes. Here, we describe a standardized reproducible technique for bilateral medial transnasal canthopexy by an orbitonasal approach.
