Tablet Compression

Tablet compression is a pharmaceutical manufacturing process that converts a measured powder or granule blend into a solid oral dosage form, making it essential for producing consistent medicines. During compression, the formulation fills a die and is compacted between upper and lower punches, causing particles to rearrange, deform, and bond under controlled force; compression speed, dwell time, and tooling influence tablet strength and integrity. In clinical pharmaceutical development, optimizing these variables helps achieve uniform dose distribution, suitable hardness, reliable disintegration, and predictable dissolution. Careful control of compression also supports manufacturing quality, production efficiency, and consistent therapeutic performance.

2023

Source: Roberto Leon, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA There are two distinct stages in a construction project involving concrete. The first stage involves batching, transporting, and casting fresh concrete. At this stage, the material is viscous, and the workability and finishability are the key performance criteria. The second stage occurs when the hydration process begins shortly after the concrete is placed in the form, and the concrete will...
