Neuronavigation Technique

The neuronavigation technique is an image-guided surgical method that uses patient-specific brain imaging to help clinicians localize anatomy during neurosurgical procedures. Before surgery, MRI or CT data are registered to the patient’s position, allowing a tracking system to display the real-time location of surgical instruments relative to three-dimensional anatomical images. This guidance supports planning and targeting for brain tumor resection, biopsy, vascular procedures, and other interventions near critical structures. By improving spatial orientation and integrating imaging with operative decision-making, neuronavigation can increase procedural precision, although brain shift and anatomical changes may reduce accuracy during surgery.

This study is designed to test the hypothesis that neuronavigational system-guided transcranial magnetic stimulation has higher accuracy for targeting the intended target as demonstrated by eliciting a greater degree of virtual aphasia in healthy subjects, measured by delay in reaction time to picture naming.

In this study, the authors report for the first time a novel 3D-Immersive & Interactive Neuronavigation (3D-IIN) through the impact of a spontaneous migraine headache attack in the μ-opioid system of a patient's brain in vivo.

Neuronavigation and Laparoscopy Guided Ventriculoperitoneal Shunt Insertion for the Treatment of Hydrocephalus

Patient outcomes of ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt surgery, the mainstay treatment for hydrocephalus in adults, are poor due to high shunt failure rates. We present intraoperative footage of VP shunt insertion using neuronavigation and laparoscopy guidance, with the goal to reduce the risks of proximal and distal shunt catheter failures, respectively.
