Phospho-ser129 Antibody

A phospho-ser129 antibody is a research reagent that selectively recognizes α-synuclein phosphorylated at serine 129, a post-translationally modified form associated with pathological protein accumulation. By binding the phosphoserine-containing epitope, it enables detection and localization of modified α-synuclein in tissue sections, cultured cells, or protein assays, depending on the antibody and assay conditions. Researchers use phospho-ser129 antibodies in immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and immunoblotting to study Lewy body and related synuclein pathology, compare disease models, and evaluate changes in protein aggregation or clearance. These measurements support investigations of Parkinson’s disease and other synucleinopathies, including biomarker and therapeutic research.

Phosphoinositides are signaling lipids whose relative abundance rapidly changes in response to various stimuli. This article describes a method to measure the abundance of phosphoinositides by metabolically labeling cells with 3H-myo-inositol, followed by extraction and deacylation. Extracted glycero-inositides are then separated by high-performance liquid chromatography and quantified by flow scintillation.

Phosphoinositides and PIPs

Phosphoinositides are a group of phospholipids containing a glycerol backbone with two fatty acid chains and a phosphate attached to a myoinositol sugar ring. The inositol head group extends into the cytoplasm, where it is modified by adding phosphate groups to form phosphatidylinositol phosphates or PIPs. Different phosphoinositides are synthesized and recruited on the cytosolic face of the plasma membrane. The localization of specific phosphoinositides concentrated in separate membrane...

Overview Antibodies, also known as immunoglobulins (Ig), are essential players of the adaptive immune system. These antigen-binding proteins are produced by B cells and make up 20 percent of the total blood plasma by weight. In mammals, antibodies fall into five different classes, which each elicits a different biological response upon antigen binding. The Y-Shaped Structure of Antibodies Consists of Four Polypeptide Chains Antibodies consist of four polypeptide chains: two identical heavy...
