Intimacy Passion Commitment

Intimacy, passion, and commitment are three psychological components used to describe the structure and development of love in close relationships. Intimacy reflects emotional closeness and mutual understanding, passion involves physical attraction and motivational arousal, and commitment represents the decision to maintain a relationship over time. Their presence, strength, and interaction can produce different patterns of love, while changes in these components help explain how relationships evolve. In psychology, this framework supports research on relationship satisfaction, stability, and conflict, and helps organize discussions of romantic attachment, long-term partnerships, and interventions designed to strengthen communication and connection.

Commitment is the process whereby stem cells: lose their ability to form all cell types and irreversibly change into a specific type. Each of these receptors binds specific cytokines, activates distinct signaling pathways, and expresses a particular gene set. The HPCs further differentiate to form committed...

The fate of an individual embryonic cell can be influenced by inherited molecules and/or by signals from neighboring cells. Utilizing fate maps of the cleavage stage Xenopus embryo, single blastomeres can be identified for culture in isolation to assess the contributions of inherited molecules versus cell-cell interactions.
