Image Processing Workflow

An image processing workflow is a structured sequence for converting raw images into reliable, quantitative information, making visual data more useful in biochemical research. It typically includes image acquisition, preprocessing to reduce noise and correct background variation, segmentation to identify regions of interest, and measurement of features such as intensity, area, or shape, followed by validation against controls. In biochemistry, these steps support analysis of microscopy images, protein gels, immunoblots, and other experimental readouts. Consistent processing improves reproducibility, enables objective comparison between samples, and helps link visual patterns to molecular abundance, localization, or experimental response.

Quantitative Fitness Analysis (QFA) is a complementary series of experimental and computational methods for estimating microbial culture fitnesses. QFA estimates the effect of genetic mutations, drugs or other applied treatments on microbe growth. Experiments scaling from focussed analysis of single cultures to thousands of parallel cultures can be designed.
