Atraumatic Forceps

Atraumatic forceps are surgical and laboratory instruments designed to grasp, hold, or manipulate delicate tissue while minimizing crushing, tearing, and other mechanical injury. Their smooth or carefully shaped tips distribute pressure across the tissue, allowing controlled handling without the concentrated force produced by sharp or heavily serrated instruments. In cancer research, atraumatic forceps support biopsy collection, tumor dissection, surgical specimen handling, and preparation of tissue for histopathological evaluation. By reducing handling damage, they help preserve tissue architecture and improve the quality and consistency of specimens used to study tumor characteristics, disease progression, and treatment responses.

The novel technique presented here employs a combination of 6-Fr micro-scissors and forceps for hysteroscopic treatment of endometrial polyps, demonstrating encouraging outcomes for infertile patients afflicted with this condition.

Intracecal Tumor Cell Injection: A Technique to Deliver Cancer Cells for Establishing Orthotopic Colorectal Cancer Mouse Model

2023

The video describes the technique for intracecal injection of cancerous cells to develop an orthotopic mouse model with highly uniform tumors. Therefore, the orthotopic mouse model allows realistic simulation of metastasis, providing a valuable tool to study the phenotype changes during tumor growth and dissemination.

We describe the establishment of orthotopic colorectal tumors via injection of tumor cells or organoids into the cecum of mice and the subsequent isolation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from this model.

Laparoscopic Ovum Pick-up For In Vivo Oocyte Retrieval In Alpacas

2026

This protocol describes a reproducible method for in vivo oocyte recovery in alpacas using hormonal synchronization, FSH superstimulation, and laparoscopic ovum pick-up (LOPU). The procedure yields consistent follicular responses and efficient oocyte recovery, supporting applications for in vitro embryo production and advanced reproductive biotechnologies.
