Dual Omics Profiling

Dual omics profiling is an approach that measures and integrates two molecular layers from the same biological system, revealing relationships that a single dataset may miss. In developmental biology, paired assays can link gene expression with chromatin accessibility, DNA methylation, protein abundance, or other molecular features by jointly analyzing matched cells or samples and identifying coordinated changes over time. This integrated view helps researchers connect regulatory states to cell identity, lineage commitment, and tissue formation, while distinguishing molecular programs that drive development from those that merely accompany it. The approach supports cell-state classification, developmental trajectory analysis, and the identification of candidate regulators involved in normal development or disease.

Expression Profiling with Microarrays

2023

Microarrays are important tools for profiling gene expression, and are based on complementary binding between probes that are attached to glass chips and nucleic acids derived from samples. Using these arrays, scientists can simultaneously evaluate the expression of thousands of genes. In addition, the expression profiles of different cells or tissue types can be compared, allowing researchers to deduce how the expression of different genes change during biological processes, and thus gain...

2014

Molecular signaling through both estrogen and microRNAs are critical in breast cancer development and growth. Estrogen activates the estrogen receptors, which are transcription factors. Many transcription factors can regulate the expression of microRNAs, and estrogen-regulated microRNAs can be profiled using different large-scale techniques.
