Pla Filament Printing

PLA filament printing is an additive manufacturing technique that builds three-dimensional objects from polylactic acid (PLA), a thermoplastic valued for its ease of processing and suitability for rapid prototyping. In fused deposition modeling, a printer feeds PLA filament into a heated nozzle, extrudes it onto a build surface, and forms each layer from digital toolpaths before the material cools and bonds to the previous layer. In engineering, the method supports concept models, fit checks, functional prototypes, and customized components with relatively low equipment demands. Its dimensional accuracy, layer adhesion, and surface finish depend on nozzle temperature, bed temperature, print speed, cooling, and layer height.

Source: Laboratories of Dr. Ian Pepper and Dr. Charles Gerba - The University of Arizona Demonstrating Author: Bradley Schmitz Fungi are heterotrophic eukaryotic organisms, and with the exception of yeasts, are aerobic. They are abundant in surface soils and are important for their role in nutrient cycling and the decomposition of organic matter and organic contaminants. White rot fungi (phanerochaete chryosporium) for example, (Figure 1) are known to degrade aromatics. Figure 1. White rot on...

Here we show how to use Proximity Ligation Assay (PLA), with a combination of antibodies to visualize Bone Morphogenetic Protein (BMP) signaling in fixed cells. This technique allowed us to follow the nuclear accumulation of endogenous BMP activated effector-complexes and quantify their levels over time under BMP4 stimulation.
