Peptide Truncation

Peptide truncation is a strategy for determining how specific regions of a peptide control its structure, recognition, and biological activity. Researchers systematically remove amino acids from the N- or C-terminus, synthesize the shortened variants, and compare their binding, stability, or functional effects with those of the full-length sequence. In immunology and infection research, truncation helps map antigenic epitopes recognized by antibodies or T cells, identify minimal sequences that interact with immune receptors, and define active regions of antimicrobial peptides. These results support studies of pathogen recognition, peptide processing, and the design of more selective vaccines, diagnostics, or therapeutic peptides.

Truncation in Survival Analysis

2025

Truncation in survival analysis refers to the exclusion of individuals or events from the dataset based on specific criteria related to the time of the event. This exclusion can happen in two primary forms: left truncation and right truncation. Left truncation occurs when individuals who experienced the event of interest before a certain time are not included in the study. This is often due to a "delayed entry" into the study where only those who survive until a certain entry point are observed.

2014

Peptide tertiary amides (PTAs) are a superfamily of peptidomimetics that include but are not limited to peptides, peptoids and N-methylated peptides. Here we describe a synthetic method which combines both split-and-pool and sub-monomer strategies to synthesize a one-bead one-compound library of PTAs.

Immunoaffinity Based Extraction of Ubiquitinylated Peptides: A Technique to Selectively Extract Ubiquitin Tagged Peptides from Purified Peptide Fractions

Here, the authors present a simple and efficient protocol to define a linear antigenic epitope using a purified monoclonal antibody and peptide scanning through dot-blot hybridization. The identified epitope can then be used in therapeutic and diagnostic applications.

Peptide Purification: An RP-HPLC-based Technique to Extract Peptides from Digested Protein Lysates

In this video, we demonstrate reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography to purify peptides from a digested protein lysate mixture. These purified peptides are then lyophilized and stored for downstream applications. Analysis of peptides can help understand the mechanics involved in cellular signaling and cancer.
