Lenticule Tear Prevention

Lenticule tear prevention refers to strategies that protect the thin, disc-shaped corneal tissue removed during refractive surgery, helping preserve the intended lenticule shape and support predictable visual outcomes. During small-incision lenticule extraction, the surgeon identifies and separates the anterior and posterior tissue planes before extracting the lenticule through a small incision; precise dissection and controlled traction reduce mechanical stress that can cause tearing. Preventing tears can simplify lenticule removal, limit retained tissue, and reduce the risk of incomplete correction or additional manipulation. This topic is relevant to surgical training, procedural quality, complication prevention, and the refinement of corneal laser techniques.

We introduced an optimized surgical approach for small incision lenticule extraction, termed the Ye's Swing Technique. This technique enables the surgeon to perform lenticule separation and extraction more easily while minimizing the risk of incision-edge tears and lenticule fragmentation. The results of this study proved its safety and efficacy.

A Novel Technique of Rescuing Capsulorhexis Radial Tear-out using a Cystotome

Capsulorhexis is an important step in phacoemulsification surgery. A surgeon creates a continous curvilinear tear on the anterior lens capsule by controlling the tearing vector forces. A peripherally extended tear is a serious complication. This video demonstrates a novel technique of rescuing capsular radial tear out using a cystotome.

Several factors can increase the risk of cancer in an individual. About 50% of cancer cases can be prevented by adopting a healthy lifestyle, regular exercise, eating healthy, and following a modest cancer prevention diet. Epidemiological studies have consistently shown that populations with vegetable and fruit-rich diets have reduced the incidence of cancer. On the other hand, populations who have a diet rich in animal fat, red meat, junk food, or high calories are predisposed to cancer. Some...
