Murine Surgical Model

A murine surgical model is a controlled medical research system that uses mice undergoing a defined surgical procedure to reproduce anatomical, physiological, or disease-related conditions in vivo. Under anesthesia and standardized perioperative care, researchers create a reproducible intervention, monitor tissue and systemic responses, and compare outcomes with sham-operated or untreated controls. These models help investigate mechanisms of injury, inflammation, regeneration, and disease progression while enabling evaluation of surgical techniques, implants, drugs, and supportive treatments. Because mice offer well-characterized genetics and manageable experimental conditions, murine surgical models support translational research, although findings require careful validation in larger animals and human studies.
