Paint Brush Tool

The Paint Brush Tool is a digital drawing instrument that applies color or other visual information to selected areas of an image, making it useful for creating, editing, and annotating visual data. It works by following pointer movements to place a series of marks whose size, shape, opacity, hardness, and color can be adjusted, allowing precise or broad modifications. In medicine, clinicians, educators, and researchers can use it to annotate radiographs, microscopy images, anatomical diagrams, and clinical illustrations by highlighting structures or suspected regions of interest. These annotations support communication, teaching, documentation, and image-based analysis.

Chromosome painting is a useful method for studying organization of the cell nucleus and evolution of the karyotype. Here, we demonstrate an approach to isolate and amplify specific regions of interest from single polytene chromosomes that are subsequently used for two- and three-dimensional fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH).

Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) brush-arm star polymers (BASPs) with narrow mass distributions and tunable nanoscopic sizes are synthesized in via ring opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of a PEG-norbornene macromonomer followed by transfer of portions of the resulting living brush initiator to vials containing varied amounts of a rigid, photo-cleavable bis-norbornene crosslinker.

Brush cells are rare cholinergic chemosensory epithelial cells found in the naïve mouse trachea. Due to their limited numbers, ex vivo evaluation of their functional role in airway immunity and remodeling is challenging. We describe a method for isolation of tracheal brush cells by flow cytometry.
