Preclinical Small Animal

Preclinical small-animal research evaluates medicines, devices, and procedures in living animal models before they advance to human studies, helping assess safety and therapeutic potential. Researchers select an appropriate model, administer a defined intervention, and monitor pharmacokinetics, treatment response, toxicity, and physiological or pathological endpoints under controlled conditions. In medicine, these studies support drug development, disease modeling, and evaluation of surgical or diagnostic approaches while revealing how biological effects vary across systems. Carefully designed experiments can identify promising candidates, refine dosing and study methods, and provide evidence for decisions about subsequent translational research.
