Impact Velocity Control

Impact velocity control is the deliberate regulation and measurement of an object’s speed immediately before it contacts a biological target, a key factor in making mechanical neuroscience experiments consistent and interpretable. In laboratory injury models, researchers adjust driving force, release conditions, or actuator settings and verify velocity with motion tracking or instrumented sensors, because impact speed influences the energy transferred to neural tissue and the resulting deformation. Controlled impacts support reproducible studies of traumatic brain injury, spinal trauma, and neural tissue biomechanics, helping researchers compare injury thresholds, relate mechanical inputs to cellular and behavioral outcomes, and improve protective interventions.

Drug Control Governance: Regulatory Bodies and Their Impact

2024

Drug control governance involves the oversight and regulation of pharmaceuticals to ensure their safety and efficacy while preventing illegal drug use and trafficking. Regulatory bodies, including the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Union's European Medicines Agency (EMA), play a central role in this process. These agencies evaluate the safety and efficacy of drugs before they can be marketed. They fund clinical trials and assess the benefits and risks associated with a...

Construction of Constant-Load (Isotonic) and Constant-Velocity (Isokinetic) Torque-Velocity-Power Profiles In vivo for the Rat Plantar Flexors

2025

Here, we present a novel protocol to non-invasively measure the torque-angular velocity-power relationship in vivo in rat plantar flexors using transcutaneous muscle stimulation. This setup enables simple testing of isotonic muscle contractions on a force transducer/length controller system to better represent the constant-load nature of everyday movements.

Ultrasound velocimetry is used to study mixing by fluid flow in liquid metal electrodes. The focus of this manuscript is to illustrate the methods used for making precise, spatially-resolved ultrasound measurements while limiting oxidation and controlling and monitoring temperature, applied current, and the heater power being supplied.
