Neuronavigation System

A neuronavigation system is a computer-assisted platform that links a patient’s brain anatomy to preoperative medical images, helping clinicians plan and guide neurosurgical procedures with greater spatial awareness. It uses image registration to align MRI or CT data with the patient’s position, while tracking surgical instruments and displaying their location within three-dimensional anatomical views in real time. In neuroscience, neuronavigation supports the targeting of tumors, vascular lesions, and epileptic tissue while helping surgeons identify critical structures and plan access routes. It also guides stereotactic procedures, functional mapping, and research applications that require precise, individualized brain localization.

This study is designed to test the hypothesis that neuronavigational system-guided transcranial magnetic stimulation has higher accuracy for targeting the intended target as demonstrated by eliciting a greater degree of virtual aphasia in healthy subjects, measured by delay in reaction time to picture naming.

In this study, the authors report for the first time a novel 3D-Immersive & Interactive Neuronavigation (3D-IIN) through the impact of a spontaneous migraine headache attack in the μ-opioid system of a patient's brain in vivo.

Neuronavigation and Laparoscopy Guided Ventriculoperitoneal Shunt Insertion for the Treatment of Hydrocephalus

Patient outcomes of ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt surgery, the mainstay treatment for hydrocephalus in adults, are poor due to high shunt failure rates. We present intraoperative footage of VP shunt insertion using neuronavigation and laparoscopy guidance, with the goal to reduce the risks of proximal and distal shunt catheter failures, respectively.
