Semi-automated Maze

A semi-automated maze is a behavioral testing system that combines a maze environment with computer-assisted control and measurement to study navigation, learning, memory, and decision-making. In neuroscience experiments, sensors or cameras monitor an animal’s position and behavior while software can regulate task events, such as opening routes, presenting cues, or delivering rewards, according to predefined conditions. This approach reduces manual handling, standardizes maze procedures, and produces detailed records of movement, choice patterns, and task performance. Researchers use these measurements to investigate neural mechanisms underlying spatial cognition and to compare behavioral changes across experimental conditions, disease models, or interventions.

2025

Most behavior experiments for rodents were originally devised for rats. Due to the behavioral differences between rats and mice, sometimes modifications are required for mice. We present a method to test spatial working memory in mice, minimizing the stress during the working memory task.

Whole blood Immunophenotyping is indispensable for monitoring the human immune system. However, the number of reagents required and the instability of specific fluorochromes in premixed cocktails necessitates daily reagent preparation. Here we show that semi-automated preparation of staining antibody cocktail helps establish reliable immunophenotyping by minimizing variability in reagent dispensing.

Spatial Memory Testing Using Mazes

2023

Spatial learning and memory are neurological functions that allow us to remember important details associated with our environment. Scientists test this phenomenon in rodents using different types of mazes like Morris water maze, Radial water maze, and Barnes maze. By investigating spatial memory in rodents, neurobehavioral scientists can gain valuable understanding of how these processes are altered following brain damage in humans. Here, the neurobiology behind spatial memory is briefly...
