High Resolution Photography

High resolution photography is the capture of images with fine spatial detail, allowing small features to be distinguished and measured with greater precision. Its performance depends on the interaction of optical resolution, sensor pixel density, illumination, focus, and diffraction, which limits how closely separated features can be recorded; reducing motion and electronic noise also helps preserve detail. In physics, high resolution photography supports the study of fast or small-scale phenomena by documenting particle tracks, material structures, fluid motion, and experimental apparatus. Careful calibration and appropriate optics help ensure that increased image detail represents physical information rather than artifacts or magnification alone.
