Abc Model

The ABC model is a psychological framework for understanding how an activating event, a person’s beliefs, and resulting consequences shape emotional and behavioral responses. In cognitive behavioral therapy and rational emotive behavior therapy, the model proposes that an event does not directly produce distress; instead, interpretations of the event, including rigid or irrational beliefs, mediate the consequences. Practitioners use this sequence to identify unhelpful thinking patterns, examine the evidence for beliefs, and develop more adaptive interpretations and behaviors. As a result, the ABC model supports assessment, therapeutic conversation, coping-skill development, and research on how cognition influences psychological well-being.

ABC Analysis

2025

ABC analysis segments inventory into three categories based on the Pareto Principle, which suggests that a small percentage of inputs often accounts for a large percentage of outcomes. Category A represents items with the highest annual consumption value. These typically constitute a small fraction of total inventory items but represent the bulk of inventory cost, demanding close monitoring and frequent reordering. Category B items have moderate value and are managed with less intensity, while...

ABC Transporters: Exporter

2023

ATP-binding cassette or ABC transporter is the largest superfamily of integral membrane proteins. The transporters have transmembrane-binding domains (TMDs) and nucleotide-binding domains (NBDs). The TMDs are specific to their substrates, whereas the NBDs are similar to engines that complete ATP hydrolysis to complete the substrate transport. They can be full transporters consisting of two TMDs and NBDs, half transporters with one TMD and NBD, while some encoded with a single TMD or NBD are...

ABC Transporters: Importer

2023

ATP-binding cassette or ABC transporters are a class of ATP-driven pumps that hydrolyze ATP to move solutes across the membrane. They can be grouped into importers and exporters. While exporters are present in all domains of life, importers exist only in bacteria and some plants. In bacteria, based on the number of transmembrane helices and the chemical nature of their substrates, the ABC importers can be divided into three types: Type I imports mostly metabolites such as sugars and amino...

Nanodiscs are small discoid particles that incorporate membrane proteins into a small patch of phospholipid bilayer. We provide a visual protocol that shows the step-by-step incorporation of the MalFGK2 transporter into a disc.
