Matrigel Injection

Matrigel injection is a laboratory method that delivers cells, drugs, or biological materials within a basement membrane-like extracellular matrix, supporting controlled studies of tissue behavior and cancer progression. Derived from tumor-cell matrix and typically maintained cold before warming, Matrigel polymerizes at physiological temperature to form a three-dimensional gel that provides structural and biochemical cues. In cancer research, investigators inject tumor cells suspended in Matrigel to establish localized models for examining tumor growth, invasion, angiogenesis, and interactions with surrounding tissues. The method can also support drug-response testing and xenograft studies, although results depend on matrix composition, injection site, cell type, and experimental conditions.

This video demonstrates how to maintain the growth of human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) in feeder cell-free conditions and how to continuously passage hESCs in feeder cell-free conditions. Confirmation of hESC pluripotency grown in feeder cell-free conditions by immunofluorescence microscopy is also demonstrated. Part 3 of 3.
