Cubic Meter

A cubic meter is the SI derived unit of volume, representing the space occupied by a cube measuring one meter on each side. In chemistry, volume conversions use the cubic relationship between length units, so 1 m³ equals 1,000 liters and 1,000,000 cubic centimeters; these relationships support consistent dimensional analysis. Chemists use cubic meters to describe gas volumes, quantify large liquid or solid samples, calculate density, and express concentrations or material balances in industrial and environmental systems. Understanding this unit helps connect laboratory measurements with SI-based calculations in chemical engineering, gas laws, solution preparation, and process-scale research.

Source: Laboratory of Dr. Zhongqi He - United States Department of Agriculture Acids and bases are substances capable of donating protons (H+) and hydroxide ions (OH-), respectively. They are two extremes that describe chemicals. Mixing acids and bases can cancel out or neutralize their extreme effects. A substance that is neither acidic nor basic is neutral. The values of proton concentration ([H+]) for most solutions are inconveniently small and difficult to compare so that a more practical...

We describe procedures for the preparation and delivery of membrane protein microcrystals in lipidic cubic phase for serial crystallography at X-ray free-electron lasers and synchrotron sources. These protocols can also be applied for incorporation and delivery of soluble protein microcrystals, leading to substantially reduced sample consumption compared to liquid injection.
