Re Si Faces

Re and Si faces are the two distinguishable sides of a trigonal planar, prochiral molecule, and identifying them helps predict stereochemical outcomes in chemical reactions. To assign a face, the three substituents attached to the planar center are ranked by priority; viewed from one side, a clockwise 1–2–3 sequence defines the Re face, whereas a counterclockwise sequence defines the Si face. Selective attack on a carbonyl or another planar functional group can therefore create a new stereocenter with defined R or S configuration. Re/Si analysis supports stereoselective synthesis, mechanistic interpretation, and understanding how chiral catalysts or enzymes favor one reaction pathway.

The Effect of Construction and Demolition Waste Plastic Fractions on Wood-Polymer Composite Properties

2020

Secondary material streams have been shown to include potential raw materials for production. Presented here is a protocol in which CDW-plastic waste as a raw material is identified, followed by various processing steps (agglomeration, extrusion). As a result, a composite material was produced, and mechanical properties were analyzed.

Modeling and Simulations of Olfactory Drug Delivery with Passive and Active Controls of Nasally Inhaled Pharmaceutical Aerosols

This manuscript reviews the modeling and simulations of different protocols to deliver medications to the olfactory region in image-based nasal airway models. Multiple software modules are used to develop the anatomically accurate nose model, generate computational mesh, simulate nasal airflows, and predict particle deposition at the olfactory region.

Microelectrode Array Recording of Sinoatrial Node Firing Rate to Identify Intrinsic Cardiac Pacemaking Defects in Mice

This protocol aims to describe a new methodology to measure intrinsic cardiac firing rate using microelectrode array recording of the whole sinoatrial node tissue to identify pacemaking defects in mice. Pharmacological agents can also be introduced in this method to study their effects on intrinsic pacemaking.

Three-Dimensional Modeling of the Left Atrium and Pulmonary Veins with a Precise Intracardiac Echocardiography Approach

2023

Accurate intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) shows significant accuracy in estimating the left atrial structure, a prospective and promising cardiac structure estimation method. Here we propose a protocol for three-dimensional modeling of the left atrium and pulmonary veins with ICE and fast anatomical mapping (FAM) catheter remodeling.

Identification of MyoD Interactome Using Tandem Affinity Purification Coupled to Mass Spectrometry

MyoD is a myogenic transcription factor with a strong capacity to induce myogenic transdifferentiation of many fully differentiated non-muscle cell lines. The epigenetic mechanisms involved in this transdifferentiation are largely unknown. Here we describe a double-affinity purification method followed by mass spectrometry to exhaustively characterize MyoD partners.
