Automated Data Capture

Automated data capture is the use of technologies that collect and record information with minimal manual entry, improving the speed, consistency, and traceability of engineering workflows. Systems combine sensors, barcode or RFID readers, optical character recognition, machine vision, or digital interfaces with software that validates, structures, and transfers data to databases or control systems. In engineering, automated data capture supports equipment monitoring, manufacturing inspection, inventory tracking, laboratory measurement, and field data collection, helping reduce transcription errors and create reliable records for analysis, quality assurance, predictive maintenance, and process optimization.
