3d Human Biogel

3D human biogel is a hydrated, tissue-like biomaterial used to recreate aspects of the human cellular environment for medical research and regenerative applications. Its interconnected polymer network retains water, provides structural support, and can be formulated to allow cells, nutrients, and signaling molecules to interact in three dimensions rather than on a flat surface. Researchers use these gels to culture human cells, model tissue organization, investigate disease processes, and evaluate therapeutic responses under more physiologically relevant conditions. By bridging conventional cell culture and engineered tissue systems, 3D human biogels support advances in drug testing, disease modeling, and regenerative medicine.

A 3D system of culturing human articular chondrocytes in high levels of synovial fluid is described. Synovial fluid reflects the most natural microenvironment for articular cartilage, and can be easily obtained and stored. This system thus can be used for studying cartilage regeneration and for screening therapeutics for treating arthritis.
