3d Slicer

3D Slicer is an open-source software platform for medical image computing that enables researchers and clinicians to visualize, analyze, and process three-dimensional biomedical data. It imports imaging studies such as CT and MRI through DICOM, then uses modules for image segmentation, registration, volume rendering, and surface-model reconstruction to convert voxel data into measurable anatomical structures. In medicine, 3D Slicer supports surgical planning, image-guided procedures, quantitative analysis, treatment evaluation, and biomedical research. Its extensible architecture also allows users to develop specialized workflows, integrate computational tools, and investigate anatomy and disease across diverse imaging modalities.

Invasion Assay Using 3D Matrices

2023

The extracellular matrix (ECM) is a network of molecules that provide a structural framework for cells and tissues and helps facilitate intercellular communication. Three-dimensional cell culture techniques have been developed to more accurately model this extracellular environment for in vitro study. While many cell processes during migration through 3D matrices are similar to those required for movement across rigid 2D surfaces, including adherence, migration through ECM also requires cells...
