Fiji Plug-ins

Fiji plug-ins are software extensions that add specialized image-processing and analysis capabilities to Fiji, an open-source distribution of ImageJ widely used for scientific imaging. They operate by applying programmed algorithms or workflows to digital images, enabling tasks such as filtering, segmentation, measurement, registration, and three-dimensional visualization. In medicine, these tools help researchers quantify structures and signals in microscopy, histology, radiology, and other biomedical images while improving reproducibility through documented, repeatable analyses. Plug-ins can also automate repetitive processing and integrate complementary tools, supporting applications from cell and tissue characterization to preclinical research and quantitative image-based assessment.

Formation of the Platelet Plug

2024

The platelet phase, the second stage of hemostasis, commences around 15-20 seconds after an injury. It follows and overlaps with the vascular phase, during which blood vessels constrict to minimize blood loss. As the injured blood vessel contracts, endothelial cells undergo contraction, revealing collagen fibers in the basement membrane and underlying connective tissue. Furthermore, the plasma membrane of endothelial cells becomes adhesive, preparing the site for platelet adhesion. Platelets...

2025

Creating and maintaining accurate financial records requires businesses to manage not only asset acquisitions but also their disposals. Asset disposal, the process of removing long-term assets from a company's books, can occur through several channels, each with distinct accounting implications and operational considerations.Asset disposals typically fall into three categories: sales, trade-ins, and write-offs. When a business sells an asset, the difference between the sale proceeds and the...

Bilayer Microfluidic Device for Combinatorial Plug Production

2023

The fabrication of a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)-based bilayer device for the production of combinatorial libraries in water-in-oil emulsions (plugs) is presented here. The necessary hardware and software required to automate plug production are detailed in the protocol, and the production of a quantitative library of fluorescent plugs is also demonstrated.
