Health Sciences Students

Health sciences students are learners preparing for careers that promote, diagnose, treat, or support human health, making their education essential to safe and effective medical practice. In medicine, they build knowledge through foundational sciences, clinical instruction, supervised practice, and assessment, applying evidence-based reasoning to patient histories, examinations, diagnoses, and treatment decisions. This training connects anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, communication, and ethics with real clinical situations. By developing technical competence, teamwork, and professional judgment, health sciences students contribute to patient care while preparing for research, public health, and specialized clinical roles.

Here, we present a protocol for the behavioral analysis of a project-based learning methodology for health sciences students (20-56 years old). The protocol facilitates the comparison of the participants' performance in e-Learning versus blended-Learning (b-Learning) through a monitoring tool. The results are analyzed using Educational Data Mining and qualitative techniques.

Overview of Biostatistics in Health Sciences

2025

Biostatistics involves the application of statistical techniques to scientific research in health-related fields, including biology and public health. These techniques are essential for designing studies, collecting data, and analyzing it to draw meaningful conclusions. Given the complexity of biological processes, particularly in studies involving human subjects, biostatistical methods are crucial for effectively organizing and interpreting data that might otherwise obscure underlying patterns...

Aseptic Technique in Environmental Science

Source: Laboratories of Dr. Ian Pepper and Dr. Charles Gerba - The University of Arizona Demonstrating Author: Luisa Ikner Aseptic technique is a fundamental skill widely practiced in the field of environmental microbiology that requires a balance of mindfulness and practice in the laboratory. Proper use of this technique reduces the likelihood of bacterial or fungal contamination of reagents, culture media, and environmental samples. Aseptic technique is also vital to ensure data integrity and...

Psychology as a Science

Psychology, as a scientific discipline, aims to understand the mind and behavior through rigorous and systematic methods. The foundation of psychological research is evidence-based, relying heavily on the scientific method to derive and validate knowledge. This structured approach ensures that findings are reliable, valid, and applicable to broader contexts. The scientific method in psychology involves six critical steps: making observations, formulating hypotheses, conducting tests, analyzing...

In this report we demonstrate techniques that can be used to investigate the biology of the crayfish hindgut. We show how to dissect a crayfish abdomen and study the associated anatomy, physiology and modulation of activity. The peristaltic activity and strength of contractions are measured using a force transducer.
