Heart Puncture Procedure

The heart puncture procedure is an invasive technique in which a needle enters a cardiac chamber to withdraw blood or, in selected settings, deliver a substance, making it useful when peripheral vascular access is unavailable or a controlled sample is required. Performed by trained personnel under appropriate anesthesia or analgesia, the procedure relies on anatomical landmarks or imaging to guide needle placement while minimizing injury, bleeding, and arrhythmia. In medicine and biomedical research, cardiac puncture can support diagnostic sampling, pharmacological studies, and terminal blood collection in laboratory animals. Careful monitoring, sterile technique, and humane endpoints are essential for reliable results and patient or animal safety.
