Implant Drill Guide

An implant drill guide is a dental surgical guide that directs cutting instruments during preparation of an osteotomy for implant placement, helping transfer a planned implant position to the patient. It uses guide sleeves or openings to control the drill’s entry point, angulation, and, in some designs, drilling depth while the clinician progresses through the prescribed sequence. By improving positional consistency, the guide can support accurate implant placement relative to bone, neighboring structures, and the planned restoration. Implant drill guides are used in computer-assisted and conventionally planned procedures, contributing to surgical efficiency, prosthetically guided treatment, and more predictable clinical outcomes.

Cited by 8 •

2015

A method for implanting electrodes into the subthalamic nucleus (STN) of rats is described. Better localization of the STN was achieved by using a microrecording system. Furthermore, a stimulation set-up is presented that is characterized by long-lasting connections between the head of the animal and the stimulator.

Computed Tomography (CT) Guided Implantation of a Totally Implantable Venous Access Port (TIVAP) through Subclavian Vein

2026

Implantation of a totally implantable venous access port (TIVAP) through the subclavian vein under CT guidance is a highly safe and precise method that can effectively reduce the incidence of complications and facilitate early detection of potential complications.

Ultrasound-Guided Implantation: A Technique to Implant Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma Cells into an Adult Mouse

2023

This video describes the protocol for ultrasound-guided orthotopic implantation of murine-derived pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma cells directly into the pancreas of the mouse. This causes less inflammation at the implantation site compared to surgical procedures.

Implantation of an Electrode Assembly in a Mouse Brain for Electrophysiological Recording

2025

This video demonstrates a technique for implanting an electrode assembly into a mouse brain. The assembly contains bipolar electrodes to record activity from the hippocampus and a reference electrode to obtain baseline activity from the cerebellum. An anesthetized mouse is placed on a stereotaxic frame, and the electrode assembly is implanted in the target brain region. The animal is then allowed to recover before performing electrophysiological recording.

Surgical Technique for the Implantation of a Biomimetic Artificial Intervertebral Disc in a Goat Animal Model

2025

This study presents a novel surgical technique for implanting a biomimetic artificial intervertebral disc (BioAID). The method ensures precise placement and stability, aiming to restore cervical spine function using a goat model. This technique shows promise for clinical application in both human and canine patients suffering from cervical spine myelopathy.
