Magnification Lens Selection

Magnification lens selection is the process of choosing an optical lens system that enlarges anatomical structures or clinical details to support accurate medical observation and intervention. The choice depends on the required magnification, working distance, field of view, depth of field, optical resolution, and compatibility with illumination or imaging equipment; higher magnification generally provides greater detail but a smaller viewing field and reduced working range. In medicine, appropriate lens selection supports surgical loupes, operating microscopes, dental procedures, ophthalmic examinations, and diagnostic imaging. Matching lens performance to the task can improve visualization, procedural precision, clinician ergonomics, and the reliability of observations.

Observing Artificial Selection in Plants ExpandTo begin the experiment, collect five two-week old grown plants from the generation one population that appear healthy. Note: Plants should appear green, not wilted, and not have damaged leaves. Experimental Hypothesis: The experimental hypothesis for this lab might be that the number of lead trichomes varies naturally, but the average number will increase over generations if only plants with the highest number of trichomes are interbred or...

We present a compact reflection digital holographic system (CDHM) for inspection and characterization of MEMS devices. A lens-less design using a diverging input wave providing natural geometrical magnification is demonstrated. Both static and dynamic studies are presented.

Lens Transplantation in Zebrafish and its Application in the Analysis of Eye Mutants

Lens development involves interactions with other tissues. Several zebrafish eye mutants are characterized by an abnormally small lens size. Here we demonstrate a lens transplantation experiment to determine whether this phenotype is due to intrinsic causes or defective interactions with tissues that surround the lens.
