Organoid Immune Interaction

Organoid immune interaction is the study of how three-dimensional, stem cell-derived tissue models communicate with, respond to, and are remodeled by immune cells. In controlled co-culture systems, immune cells such as macrophages, lymphocytes, or neutrophils encounter organoid-derived signals and can alter tissue behavior through cytokine signaling, cell-cell contact, infiltration, or cytotoxic activity. These models recreate selected features of inflammation, infection, tumor-immune interactions, and tissue injury more faithfully than many simplified two-dimensional cultures, while allowing researchers to control cell composition and experimental conditions. In medicine, organoid immune interaction supports disease modeling, therapeutic testing, and investigation of patient-specific immune responses, helping connect mechanistic studies with precision treatment strategies.
