Primary Duct Closure

Primary duct closure is a surgical technique that seals a duct directly after it has been divided, opened, or injured, helping restore anatomical integrity and prevent leakage. The procedure involves identifying the duct lumen, securing its edges or ligating the duct, and bringing surrounding tissue together under conditions that minimize tension and contamination. In medicine, primary duct closure can support operations involving pancreatic, biliary, or other ductal structures, where an effective seal may reduce fluid leakage, fistula formation, infection, and additional postoperative complications. Careful tissue handling, hemostasis, and postoperative monitoring are essential for assessing healing and detecting failure.

Arginine-vasopressin (AVP) controls fine-tuning of body water homeostasis through facilitating water reabsorption by renal principal cells. Here, we present a protocol for the cultivation of primary rat inner medullary collecting duct cells suitable for the elucidation of molecular mechanisms underlying AVP-mediated water reabsorption.

Laparoscopic Common Bile Duct Exploration Followed by Primary Suture Using a Modified Bile Duct Incision
