Prosthetic Limb

A prosthetic limb is an artificial replacement for a missing arm or leg that helps restore mobility, function, or appearance after limb loss. Depending on its design, it may transfer movement from residual muscles through mechanical linkages, respond to electrical signals detected by surface electrodes, or use microprocessors to adjust joints during walking and other activities. Prosthetic limbs combine socket design, structural components, and control systems to improve comfort and coordination. In medicine, they support rehabilitation, independence, and participation in daily life while advancing research in biomechanics, neural control, and human-machine interaction.
