Self-reported Adherence

Self-reported adherence is a method for assessing how consistently patients follow prescribed medical recommendations, such as taking medications, attending appointments, or following lifestyle instructions. It typically uses patient questionnaires, interviews, diaries, or medication-taking reports to capture behaviors that may not be directly observable, although recall difficulties and socially desirable responses can affect accuracy. In medicine, self-reported adherence helps clinicians identify barriers to treatment, interpret outcomes, and tailor counseling or support. Researchers also use it in clinical studies and healthcare evaluations, often alongside pharmacy records, electronic monitoring, or biological measures to provide a more complete assessment of treatment use.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are important regulators of gene expression and have been shown to play a role in numerous biological processes. To better understand miRNA-UTR interactions, we have created a genome-wide collection of 3 UTR luciferase reporters paired with a novel luciferase gene and assay reagent, the LightSwitch system.
