Both Hind Paw Injection

Both hind paw injection is an experimental technique in which a test solution is delivered into the plantar surface of each hind paw to produce controlled, localized stimulation in animal models. The injected compound can activate peripheral nociceptors or trigger local inflammation, generating measurable changes in paw sensitivity, withdrawal responses, and other pain-related behaviors. In neuroscience, this approach helps researchers investigate sensory processing, inflammatory and neuropathic pain mechanisms, and the neural effects of candidate analgesic treatments. Comparing responses between treated animals, control groups, or time points can reveal how peripheral signals influence spinal and brain circuits involved in nociception.

Hindsight Biases

Hindsight bias leads you to believe that the event you just experienced was predictable, even though it really wasn’t. In other words, you knew all along that things would turn out the way they did. Can you relate this to the phrase "Hindsight is 20/20" now? This text is adapted from OpenStax, Psychology. OpenStax CNX.

Paw-Dragging: a Novel, Sensitive Analysis of the Mouse Cylinder Test

Classical forelimb asymmetry analysis of the cylinder test is routinely used to assess behavioural deficits in rats following brain injury or stroke; however, it fails to detect consistent deficits in mice. This study demonstrates that quantifying paw-dragging behaviour is a more sensitive analysis of brain injury in mice.

Echocardiography-guided percutaneous intramyocardial injection represents an efficient, reliable, and targetable modality for the delivery of gene transfer agents or cells into the murine heart. Following the steps outlined in this protocol, the operator can quickly become competent in this versatile, minimally invasive technique.

After neural tube formation, the neuroepithelium constricts and folds while the tube fills with embryonic cerebrospinal fluid (eCSF) to form the embryonic brain ventricles. We developed this ventricle injection technique to better visualize the fluid filled space in contrast to the neuroepithelial shape in a live embryo.
