Fast Red Detection

Fast Red detection is a chromogenic method used to visualize target molecules in biological samples, particularly neural tissue, through a distinct red reaction product. In immunohistochemistry, an enzyme such as alkaline phosphatase converts a Fast Red substrate into an insoluble colored precipitate at the site of antibody binding, allowing researchers to localize specific proteins within cells and tissue sections. This approach supports analysis of neuronal markers, receptor distribution, and disease-associated changes in brain tissue. Its contrasting color can also aid multiplex staining strategies, helping distinguish multiple targets and clarify cellular organization in neuroscience research.
