Focalized Tdcs

Focalized transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) is a noninvasive neuromodulation technique that applies weak electrical currents to a targeted cortical region to influence brain activity. It uses strategically arranged scalp electrodes, often in high-definition montages, to concentrate current flow and modulate neuronal membrane excitability beneath the stimulation site. In neuroscience, focalized tDCS supports investigations of cortical function, brain connectivity, learning, and behavior while offering greater spatial precision than conventional electrode arrangements. Researchers also evaluate its potential for influencing motor and cognitive processes and for developing targeted interventions in neurological and psychiatric conditions.

High-definition transcranial direct current stimulation (HD-tDCS), with its 4x1-ring montage, is a noninvasive brain stimulation technique that combines both the neuromodulatory effects of conventional tDCS with increased focality. This article provides a systematic demonstration of the use of 4x1 HD-tDCS, and the considerations needed for safe and effective stimulation.

2025

This video demonstrates a method for high-resolution EEG recording in a rat model of focal epilepsy. It outlines the steps involved in preparing the rat, connecting a multichannel EEG mini-cap to the rat's scalp, and recording the EEG to identify seizure-related events characteristic of the epilepsy model.

Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) is a therapeutic technique proposed to treat psychiatric diseases. An animal model is essential for understanding the specific biological alterations evoked by tDCS. This protocol describes a tDCS mouse model that uses a chronically implanted electrode.

Functional Interrogation of Adult Hypothalamic Neurogenesis with Focal Radiological Inhibition

The function of adult-born mammalian neurons remains an active area of investigation. Ionizing radiation inhibits the birth of new neurons. Using computer tomography-guided focal irradiation (CFIR), three-dimensional anatomical targeting of specific neural progenitor populations can now be used to assess the functional role of adult neurogenesis.
