Pre Post Treatment Effects

Pre-post treatment effects describe the change in an outcome measured in the same participants before and after an intervention, providing a basic framework for evaluating treatment impact. Statistical analysis typically pairs each participant’s measurements, calculates an individual change score, and tests whether the average change differs from zero, often with a paired t-test or a related nonparametric method. Researchers use these comparisons in clinical studies, education, behavioral research, and public health to assess improvement or deterioration over time. Because changes may also reflect natural recovery, repeated testing, or outside influences, stronger designs may include a control group or additional time points.

2025

Patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction who remain symptomatic despite optimal medical therapy may undergo a septal myectomy (Morrow procedure). This procedure involves excising a portion of the hypertrophied septum below the aortic valve using a heart-lung machine to improve blood flow through the LVOT. Effective preoperative and postoperative nursing management ensures successful patient outcomes, minimizes complications, and...

The storage conditions of platelet products create an ideal environment for bacterial contaminants to multiply to dangerous levels. The goal of this study was to use a colony forming assay to evaluate a riboflavin based pathogen reduction process against high titer bacterial contamination in human platelet products.
