Multifunctional Probe

A multifunctional probe is an engineered research tool that combines two or more capabilities, such as molecular recognition, signal generation, imaging, or therapeutic delivery, within one platform. In cancer research, the probe typically uses a targeting component to bind a tumor-associated biomarker, while linked reporter or payload components produce a detectable signal or support localized intervention. These integrated functions can help researchers identify abnormal cells, characterize tumor biology, monitor treatment responses, and connect diagnosis with therapy. By coordinating detection and action in a single design, multifunctional probes may improve disease profiling and support more precise approaches to cancer research and clinical translation.
