Rgds Peptide Conjugation

RGD peptide conjugation is the covalent attachment of peptides containing the arginine-glycine-aspartic acid (RGD) sequence to a molecule, surface, or biomaterial, enabling selective interactions with cell-surface integrins. Conjugation strategies use functional groups on the peptide and carrier to form stable chemical linkages while preserving the RGD motif’s accessibility, allowing integrin recognition to influence cell adhesion and signaling. In bioengineering, these modified polymers, nanoparticles, hydrogels, and tissue-engineering scaffolds can promote cell attachment, direct cellular responses, or improve delivery to integrin-expressing tissues. Design variables such as linker chemistry, peptide density, and orientation help determine biological performance.

Conjugated Proteins

Simple proteins and protein complexes contain only amino acids. In contrast, many other proteins, called conjugated proteins, covalently bond with non-protein moieties. Nucleoproteins are protein complexes that contain nucleic acids, categorized as deoxyribonucleoproteins (DNPs) or ribonucleoproteins (RNPs) respectively. The nucleosome is a typical example of a DNP where nuclear DNA is associated with histone proteins. The major antigen for the Covid-19 virus SARS-CoV is an RNP that is critical...
