Chemical Composition Analysis

Chemical composition analysis is the systematic identification and measurement of the elements, compounds, or constituents present in a material, making it essential for understanding chemical structure, purity, and behavior. Analytical methods separate components or measure their characteristic interactions with energy, such as light absorption in spectroscopy, movement through a stationary phase in chromatography, or mass-to-charge ratios in mass spectrometry. In chemistry, these approaches support quality control, reaction monitoring, environmental testing, pharmaceutical development, and materials characterization. By revealing both what a sample contains and how much is present, composition analysis enables reliable interpretation, comparison, and optimization of chemical systems.

2023

Source: Laboratory of Dr. Ryoichi Ishihara — Delft University of Technology Raman spectroscopy is a technique for analyzing vibrational and other low frequency modes in a system. In chemistry it is used to identify molecules by their Raman fingerprint. In solid-state physics it is used to characterize materials, and more specifically to investigate their crystal structure or crystallinity. Compared to other techniques for investigating the crystal structure (e.g. transmission electron...

2018

This protocol describes the procedure to express fresh pore solution from cementitious systems and the measurement of its ionic composition using X-ray fluorescence. The ionic composition can be used to calculate pore solution electrical resistivity, which can be used, together with concrete electrical resistivity, to determine the formation factor.

Presented here is a protocol for the induction and analysis of in vitro neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs). Quantification of DNA, cathelicidin (LL37), and enzyme activity yielded data that show the variability in the composition and morphology of NETs induced by microbial and chemical stimuli under similar controlled conditions.
