Squeeze Excitation Network

A Squeeze Excitation Network is a convolutional neural network architecture that adaptively emphasizes informative feature channels, improving how models represent visual data. It first squeezes each feature map into a global descriptor through global average pooling, then passes this descriptor through a small bottleneck of fully connected layers and a sigmoid activation to generate channel-wise excitation weights. The network rescales the original feature maps using these weights, allowing important channels to contribute more strongly while reducing less useful responses. In engineering and computer vision, this attention mechanism can improve image classification, object detection, and other recognition tasks with relatively modest computational overhead.

The Squeeze Theorem

Certain mathematical functions exhibit unpredictable or highly variable behavior near specific input values, making direct evaluation of their limits challenging. This complexity may arise from rapid oscillations or irregular patterns that obscure the function’s trend. In such cases, the Squeeze Theorem offers a reliable method for determining limits.According to the Squeeze Theorem, if a function is confined between two other functions near a particular point, and both outer functions approach...
