Precision Bench Sprayer

A precision bench sprayer is a laboratory-scale device that applies liquids uniformly to plants, soil, or other test surfaces under controlled conditions. It typically regulates spray volume, nozzle pressure, droplet delivery, and travel speed so researchers can reproduce treatment rates while minimizing variation between samples. In environmental research, the instrument supports controlled studies of pesticide efficacy, plant responses, spray deposition, and potential off-target movement. By standardizing application conditions, a precision bench sprayer improves experimental comparability and reduces material use, helping connect small-scale laboratory tests with field-based assessments of agricultural chemicals and environmental exposure.

Uncertainty in Measurement: Accuracy and Precision

2020

Scientists typically make repeated measurements of a quantity to ensure the quality of their findings and to evaluate both the precision and the accuracy of their results. Measurements are said to be precise if they yield very similar results when repeated in the same manner. A measurement is considered accurate if it yields a result that is very close to the true or the accepted value. Precise values agree with each other; accurate values agree with a true value. Suppose a quality control...

2017

This paper describes the assembly process and operation of a bench-scale photosynthetic bioreactor that can be used, in conjunction with other methods, to estimate pertinent kinetic growth parameters. This system continuously monitors the pH, light, and temperature using sensors, a data acquisition and control unit, and open-source data acquisition software.

The Precision of Visual Working Memory with Delayed Estimation

2023

Source: Laboratory of Jonathan Flombaum—Johns Hopkins University Human memory is limited. Throughout most of its history, experimental psychology has focused on investigating the discrete, quantitative limits of memory—how many individual pieces of information a person can remember. Recently, experimental psychologists have also become interested in more qualitative limits—how precisely is information stored? The concept of memory precision can be both intuitive and elusive at once. It is...
