Aldh High

ALDH high refers to cells or tissue with elevated aldehyde dehydrogenase activity, a measurable biological feature relevant to medicine and disease research. ALDH enzymes protect cells by oxidizing reactive aldehydes into less-toxic carboxylic acids, and laboratory assays can identify populations with comparatively strong enzyme activity. Researchers use ALDH-high status to characterize stem and progenitor cell populations, investigate tumor heterogeneity, and evaluate differences in treatment response. Because elevated ALDH activity may reflect enhanced detoxification or distinct cellular states, it can support biomarker development, patient stratification, and studies of cancer progression and therapeutic resistance.
