Cervical Suspension

Cervical suspension is a gynecologic surgical technique that supports the cervix and upper uterus when weakened pelvic tissues cause uterine or apical prolapse. The procedure restores pelvic support by attaching the cervix or adjacent uterine tissues to stronger pelvic ligaments or other stable structures with sutures or a supporting material, repositioning the reproductive organs within the pelvis. By improving anatomical alignment, cervical suspension can reduce pressure, bulging, and related functional symptoms while preserving the uterus in selected patients. Its use contributes to reconstructive pelvic surgery and helps clinicians evaluate uterus-sparing approaches to prolapse management.

This protocol describes the application of high-frequency ultrasound (HFUS) for imaging mouse cervical lymph nodes. This technique optimizes visualization and quantification of cervical lymph node morphology, volume and blood flow. Image-guided biopsy of cervical lymph nodes and processing of lymph tissue for histological evaluation is also demonstrated.
