Scarless Thyroidectomy

Scarless thyroidectomy is a minimally invasive surgical approach that removes all or part of the thyroid without a visible neck incision, addressing the cosmetic impact of conventional thyroid surgery. In the transoral endoscopic vestibular approach, surgeons introduce a camera and instruments through small openings in the lower lip and oral vestibule, create a working space in the neck, and carefully dissect the thyroid while preserving the recurrent laryngeal nerves and parathyroid glands. This technique can treat selected benign nodules, goiters, and thyroid cancers, although patient selection and management of risks such as infection, bleeding, and nerve injury remain essential. It expands surgical options for patients seeking effective treatment with minimal external scarring.
